Spider-man Todd McFarlane style by Frank Cho

Another blast from the past.
This is for Hasbro. I was asked to draw Spider-man in Todd McFarlane style. I have to say that this was one of the hardest assignments that I had. Todd’s sense of anatomy was so funky and different from mine that I had to forget all my training and relearn how to draw in Todd’s style.
Thank god they didn’t ask me again to draw in his style again.

Blast from the past file! Spider-Man

Been shoving snow all day and night.

We got socked with about 2 feet of snow here in Maryland. My van was literally buried and completely snow walled in by the snow plow. Spent all afternoon digging my van and my neighbor’s cars out. My back’s gonna pay for it in the morning. It’s days like today when I think fondly of my old house with the garage.

Blast from the past file! Here’s the rejected cover of Marvel Knight’s Spider-Man, beautifully colored by Laura Martin, from few years ago.
The editors didn’t like my Venom redesign and also Spider-Man’s senses can’t detect Venom. Who knew?

No question about it, Spider-man is my favorite Marvel character. So when I was tapped to draw couple issues of Spidey with Mark Millar few years back, I was in 7th heaven.

Here’s a Spider-Man cover that I did during that time, and was never published for whatever reason. That’s Spidey holding Mary Jane with Black Cat swinging next to them.
