The long awaited Sketches and Scribbles Book 6 is finally here. The books arrived safely on Friday before the rain storm. All 3000 copies are safely tucked away in my garage. The big job now is to sign and number them. Lucky for me, I’ve volunteered my lovely girlfriend to number them while I sign them.

Sketches and Scribbles Book 6 will debut at San Jose Big Wow Comic Fest on the weekend of May 21 – 22.

Don’t forget the free art class taught by me at the show, and the new ART CHALLENGE panel. This is the same drawing panel that I did at Boston Comicon. The audience will pick 1 character, 1 action and 1 setting for me to draw in 1 HOUR! The original art will be raffled off at the end of the hour. This will be the only art that I’ll be drawing at the show. Don’t miss out.

This just in: ADAM HUGHES will do a free Copic Marker drawing demonstration at San Jose Big Wow Comic Fest!!!

Well, it’s official. 50 Girls 50 issue 1 sold out and it’s going to second printing. Here’s the press release from Image Comics:

Frank Cho and Doug Murray Set Their Phasers for Sell Out with 50 Girls 50 #1

BERKELEY, CA – 7 June 2011 – Mere days after the introduction of Frank Cho and Doug Murray’s 50 GIRLS 50, Image Comics has announced the first issue of their sexy sci-fi epic has sold out. A second printing is being readied for a July 6 release.

Co-created by Cho and Murray, with art by 50 GIRLS 50 talent search winner and current ELEPHANTMEN artist Axel Medellin, 50 GIRLS 50 chronicles the fantastic voyage of the Space Vessel ESS Savannah and her beautiful crew as they fight to escape hostile aliens and exotic worlds, searching for the wormhole that will take them to their ultimate destination: Home.

“It’s been a blast watching this project develop over the last few years, first an online talent search and then as Axel was turning in pages and Frank was planning out covers,” said Image Comics Publisher Eric Stephenson. “Everyone involved has done a fantastic job, every step of the way, so it’s a real pleasure to see such an enthusiastic response to the first issue.”

Added Cho: “50 GIRLS 50 #1 is sold out?! Awesome! I’m having steak tonight!”

The second printing of 50 GIRLS 50 #1 (APR118208), a 32-page full comic book priced at $2.99, and 50 GIRLS 50 #2 (MAY110542) will both be on sale July 6.

Boy, I can’t believe that it’s August already. Time sure flies when you’re buried in work.
I have so many things in the pipeline right now. It makes my head spin just thinking about it.

Here’s a short list of my stuff that’s coming out in the next 12 months:

1) GUNS & DINOS – 3 issue miniseries from Image Comics. The first issue is coming out November 2011. I’m pretty excited about it. I’ve been sitting on this story for about 12 years and finally decided to pull the trigger on it. I’ll have the sneak peek up soon.

2) BRUTAL – Joe Keatinge and I have been co-writing this all summer. It’s pretty scary how fast the story came together. We even have the second and third story arcs outlined. I’ll start drawing once I finish Guns and Dinos. Brutal is tentatively scheduled for April 2012 release.

3) X-MEN miniseries written and drawn by me. I can’t say too much right now but this miniseries will have three of the hottest women in the Marvel Universe.

4) JUNGLE QUEEN – This is a pet project of mine that I’ve been writing and drawing, well mostly doodling, for fun since last year. My plan is to watercolor and paint the whole book. At this point, it will only be published in France where there’s no censorship against nudity like here in America. (I may have several pages in my next sketchbook.) With my current workload, this book won’t come out anytime soon but it’ll definitely come out in the next 2-3 years. I’ll keep you posted.

Here’s a penciled pin-up of her fishing. Enjoy.
