Wow. Thank you all for the incredible response to my giant-sized Man-Thing. (That joke never gets old.) The response was positively overwhelming. So as a treat today, I’m gonna share with you my step-by-step process in drawing that monster double page spread.
As you can see, most of the vegetation and figure work were no more than mere scribbles on the page during the early and middle stages. I was literally figuring out the composition and balancing the art throughout the drawing AND the inking process. Very stressing and dangerous method. But I lucked out, things all turned out okay at the end.
You can check out the entire Man-Thing scene in Savage Wolverine #4, coming out in April at all fine comic shops.

Hokey smoke, Oaky!
So that's the kind of inspiration that comes
from really great back pain medication and
a debilitating muscle pull. Well, artists suffer
for their craft, I hear.
But seriously, that is amazing to see.
It'd look great as several pages in a sketchbook.
Thanks for the look at this, Mr. Cho.
And I hope you're fully recovered. _________________ Tokyo Aaron |
