I don't want to sound disrespectful here but this is something we should all get used to. We're getting older, which means the silver screen heroes that we grew up watching are getting older too. If you look at the average age of the people that have passed away this year, it's pretty high (mid-late 70's at least). I'm not saying we shouldn't miss those that we've lost. If anything, this should be a sobering reminder that we only have so much time here and we should make the most of it. A lot of those people got to live long lives, while others didn't.

Anyways, just my thoughts on the matter as this year comes to a close.

Shawn, I agree with you.  I also believe that social media is the catalyst that brings all of these to light.  That it's not so many more have passed away this past year compared to previous years, but it's that social media has made us more aware.  How many on this list would have been totally forgotten had it not been Zeus' post, or Facebook, Twitter, etc...

The list still sucks however.  I'm going to take a moment this morning and just think about each of these and remember...   cry

Yes, celebs are getting older, as are the rest of us, God willing. There's definitely a discrepancy between reporting sources about how many have passed away. The Snopes article I've linked below shows the differences... among them, The L.A. Times reported about half of those that The Hollywood Reporter did. Perhaps the Hollywood Reporter had reported more of the younger ones than the site I found that list on. Maybe they reported more of the obscure older ones. They have close to 50 more listed, not that I'm going to look at all the lists. It's depressing enough to have this one. Yes, we have much easier and faster access than we did in the past, but it still looks like there were more notable deaths than in recent years... at least to me it does. It just seems to have been an over abundance of notable celeb deaths in 2016.

what stood out to  me was this trio:

June 3 – Muhammad Ali (formerly Cassius Clay), professional boxer – three-time heavyweight champion (1964, 1974, and 1978) – age 74

June 6 - Kimbo Slice, MMA fighter, actor - age 42

June 10 – Gordie Howe, hockey player – Detroit Red Wings for 25 seasons, 23-time NHL All-Star – age 88

the list is littered with actors, singers/ entertainers, but this 3 day sequence involved only sports figures.

I guess we're at an age when all our celebrities from our childhood and youth are dying.

2017 is gonna be a monster of a year for celebrity deaths I reckon.
