San Jose Super Con Weekend!!!

I’ll be at San Jose Super-Con this weekend. ( www.super-con.com )
As many may know, every year there’s a huge art auction at San Jose Super-con. Many of the guests ink over blue line penciled images by our favorite artists, past and present. The convention auctions off the finished pieces to benefit charity and Super-Con.

This year’s penciled pieces were by Jack Kirby (Captain America), Mark Schultz (Dino Girl), Alex Ross (Poison Ivy) and Bill Morrison (Lady Robotika).
I chose to ink over Jack Kirby’s Captain America.

It’s not every day that you get to ink Jack Kirby so I went a little crazy, spending way too much time on it. Here’s the finished result.

I love doing battle scenes, a fine marriage of choreographed chaos and violence.

Here’s a sequence where Captain America opens a big can of whup-ass on the Asgardian troll invaders.

I’ve drawn and redrawn this scene a few times already. I think I’ve nailed it but who knows I may change it again…
